Self-Care and Well-Being

Mental Health

With it being mental health awareness week, I thought I would write a post related to that, as mental health is so, so important to general health and wellbeing, yet it is too often ignored and not taken seriously, which is why it remains a growing issue.

Now, I’m not going to delve too far into my mental health, as it is not something I feel completely comfortable with sharing right now, but I know it is something that should be talked about more openly.
I’ve struggled on and off with my mental health from a young age. I was first bullied at the age of seven or eight, and then I was bullied continuously up to the age of sixteen, and now at the age of nineteen, I am still struggling with the aftermath, among other things.
I have good days and I have bad days, and I have times where I think I’m free of any sadness or anxiety and that everything is great, only to realise pretty quickly that that is not the case – but mental health is an ongoing journey and it’s not always something that goes away.

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health, so perhaps the main goal of this post is to just remind you of that, and to encourage you to find positive ways of improving your mental health, but to know that it’s okay to have bad days along the way.

I hope, one day, to be able to talk more openly about my own struggles with mental health, and I hope that more and more people will talk about theirs, too, so eventually, people realise just how real and important it is.

  1. This is such a powerful message. Congratulations for gaining the strength to talk a little bit about your mental health on your blog. Even if you aren’t ready to go into detail, small steps are great; it’s what I’ve done, but on Instagram instead of my blog. Everyone has to start somewhere, right? Without trying to sound cliché, I really do hope you’re in a good place at the moment.

    1. Thank you so much lovely! I saw your Instagram post and I was glad to see someone talking about it, so congratulations to you, too 😊
I could be better but I’ve been way worse, so hopefully will be going up from here.
Thank you for your lovely comment 😊😊
